About NucNet
NucNet - the worlds nuclear network - is the first and only global public communications venture in which all sections of the world nuclear community have joined forces to work together and demonstrate transparency.
Its aim is both to increase the speed and reliability of the world-wide nuclear information flow, and to accurately communicate essential information in language that can be easily understood by everyone.
NucNet now has members and subscribers in nearly 50 countries and, in most of them, all sources of nuclear information are directly linked to the network. It gets its news directly from some 400 information suppliers at nuclear plant sites, utilities, fuel cycle companies, regulatory bodies, government ministries, research centres, etc.
They send their news to Central Office in Brussels, Belgium, where it is edited into journalistic and easy-to-read form before being distributed throughout the network. This means that, within hours of a big story breaking, network members and key journalists have the fully-authenticated facts at their fingertips.
Since start-up at the beginning of 1991, NucNet has firmly established itself as the indispensable information source for top nuclear managers, executives and public communicators indeed, anyone with a daily professional need to be kept up-to-date with the most important global developments in the field of nuclear energy.
What is more, the networks speed, accuracy and impartiality have gained the trust and respect of journalists around the world, who now rely on NucNet for its reliable and impeccably-sourced flow of nuclear news and information.

NucNet for Insiders ...
Founded in 1990 by the European Nuclear Society (ENS), but now a fully independent entity, NucNet provides an essential information service for nuclear professionals. The Business News category is particularly valuable to company executives. Every year, NucNet distributes around 600 news items and more detailed background articles, along with many other items of particular interest to industry 'insiders'.
Thanks to NucNet, nuclear communicators and executives have a constant and regular flow of nuclear news and background information - material they know is accurate, up-to-date and tailored to meet their needs.

... for Communicators ...
Nuclear communicators use NucNet in their work with local media and communities and at public information centres. In many cases, NucNet is translated into the local language and then relayed quickly to national and local journalists.
NucNet is also extensively used in nuclear journals, bulletins and newsletters. The international news gives those publications a global perspective. Most of the editors involved rely almost exclusively on NucNet for their international news, meaning that fewer staff have to be involved in newsgathering. Every year hundreds of NucNet items appear in a wide variety of in-house publications.

... Managers ...
In many large companies, there is a person responsible for internal distribution of NucNet, ensuring that the right news goes to the managers, executives and specialists who need it most. In a number of companies, NucNet news is distributed electronically on company networks and pinned up on notice-boards to be read by thousands of people.
Because of its fast and accurate reporting of incidents in nuclear facilities, NucNet is also appreciated by plant managers and operators and by officials at safety authorities.

... Online Research
Via NucNet's Internet server, subscribers can access an automatically-updated and easily searchable database, containing every item ever distributed on the network. Subscribers can carry out searches on specific topics, using a range of keywords and search aids, and can download the relevant texts (along with associated graphics) to their own computers. The comprehensive and user-friendly Web-based search facility enables NucNet users to manage the network's information more efficiently and makes research much easier.
