JAEC said the agreement was signed by commission chairman Khaled Toukan and WorleyParsons’ senior vice-president Djurica Tankosich.
During the 24-month contract WorleyParsons will carry out various technical consultancies and services aimed at evaluating the nuclear power plant technology that would be most suitable for Jordan.
The agreement also includes feasibility and financial assessment, selection of a plant vendor and operator, and support for the Jordan Nuclear Regulatory Commission on safety and regulatory issues.
In September 2009 JAEC awarded a site study contract for the proposed plant to Tractebel Engineering of Belgium.
